Last Friday I ran a seasonally inspired Warhammer 40,000 themed game with some custom rules. It was a ‘Capture the Squigmas Tree’ scenario with custom rules and eclectic teams. Rules here:
Ciarán and I teamed up against Garreth, Dane and Luke.

I took inspiration from Warcry and What a Tanker! when creating the rules: basically, at the start of each model’s activation a ‘Hand’ of six dice is rolled; doubles, triples etc. are good; 1s less so! Throw in some random items and this led to a game full of randomness and shenanigans… perfect for a bit of festive fun.
The trio won out in the end, though it could have gone either way for a while, with the Squigmas tree barely moving from the centre of the battlefield. Eventually one of Luke’s model seized it and broke free. The game finishing on a natural ‘straight’ (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6) allowing that model five actions!
All told excellent fun.
Merry Squigmas,
Owen
