A doubleheader as the Americans say. Takeover versus Peader’s Delaques and Escape the Badlands against Garreth’s Enforcers. I didn’t win either of these, but there were some great moments and all told, I did alright…
Takeover
In this game I needed to take control of three objectives on the Delaque side of the battlefield. I used my Tunnels advantage to deploy some of my gang close to one objective, with the plan that I’d Coup de Mains it. This didn’t go to plan. An infiltrating Webber and a Nacht-ghul really scuppered my plans. The Tunnel portion of my gang emerged and did fairly well, but the rest were webbed and sliced up! I voluntarily bottled after seizing the first objective. The Nacht-ghul was going to tear apart more of my gang if I hadn’t! Even at that, Hannes, my bolter touting Subjugator, was killed outright (I rolled 66)!
Escape the Badlands
This scenario didn’t really live up to its name. The Badlands environmental happenings were inconsequential. We could have avoided each other and just pushed to escape, the main objective in this scenario, but I was up for a scrap.
However, this was the second game where I felt I was low on numbers as I hadn’t looked into getting some Allies. Don’t worry – I’ve rectified that after this game. Things started fairly well, with the Abberant (Woot! New Ganger thanks to another 66 in the last game) taking out a palatine and my sergeant doing the same with his bolter. Things on my left were stickier and my captain ended up in a scrap with fully armoured and shielded Subjugator. They pounded on each other, but the shields took all of the hits!
A botched grenade shot dropped two of my guys and they stalled in a doorway, with multiple shotgun blasts keeping them down.
The Abberant charged a model, only to be hopped on by the opposing Captain, who got a little lucky to take it out! Nonetheless, I had a lot of models in compromised positions, so it was time to bug out!
No lasting damage and some decent earrings, so not terrible. Though, my Reputation has plummeted. Let’s see how the Cold Traders fare when they’re added to my gang for next time!
I’m really enjoying Necromunda. It’s a good storytelling game with lot’s of options and complexity. This makes it difficult, potentially, to get into, but thankfully Peader has experience playing it, so we always have a guiding hand to help us along.
Until next time,
Owen
